NICO GUERRERO BIO VORTEX VIDEO CONCERT CONTACT

Nico Guerrero is a French experimental composer/guitarist based in Paris+Reykjavik, founding member with Sonia Cohen-Skalli of the experimental CosmicDarkNoise band VORTEX in the early 90s (acclaimed debut album “Eksaïphnès” on Les Disques du Soleil & de l'Acier, 2000). The band is still involved in musical collaborations and touring (NG, Johanna Billing, G. P.Orridge tribute compilation…).

In his plethoric solo works, Nico uses electronic filters and occult alterations of guitar chords as “Prima Matera” to build abstract & melancholic soundspaces, ringing like hallucinatory organ clusters expanding towards the infinite. His guitar live sound takes the scale of a gigantic mountain echo.

He worked for 7 years as a composer/musician/videographer for the dance company of the French choreographer Sylvia Hillard. Their pieces merged curious visual and sound installations with an ultra sensitive body in permanent resonance with the music.

In 2015, he was invited by the American composer Rhys Chatham in his Parisian studio to create in duet configuration 4 instrumental pieces for guitars, trompet and flutes.
Nico is also a section conductor for the Rhys Ensemble of 100 guitars, as for the spectacular performance on the beach at Le Havre, June 2018.

Nico recorded his latest album “Live at the Nordic House” during the AIRWAVES Reykjavik Festival in November 2018, a highlight of the Icelandic music scene. It captures perfectly the furious whirlwind of fire that Nico knows to invoke on stage. The CD will be released on September 1 on “Le Chant des Egrégores” 2019.
